Welcome to the Copper Cliff Skating Club policy centre, where we outline the guidelines and safety standards that help keep our skaters, coaches, and families gliding smoothly together.

Guest Skating Policy

Copper Cliff Skating Club is pleased to offer Guest Skating in our sessions, pending availability.

Skaters registered with Copper Cliff Skating Club are permitted to guest skate in any STAR session that is equal to their own registered session. For example, a STAR 1 skater may only guest skate during STAR 1 sessions.

All skaters who wish to guest skate must email info@coppercliffskatingclub.com and their coach at least 24 hours prior to skate times, and submit the guest skate form online in the registration portal. See "drop in" under east STAR program.

Private lessons may be provided only if time permits and after all registered session skaters have received their required lessons.

Guest skating is not permitted during the level-appropriate session immediately prior to a competition without written consent from the Board.

Skaters from other clubs are eligible to guest skate provided they are current Skate Canada members in good standing, and will adhere to the same terms as stated above. The CCSC coaching staff is committed to coaching CCSC members, so it's recommended your own coach accompany you.

Guest skating forms must be submitted and fees must be paid prior to entering the ice surface. Please note that all fees and charges are subject to change.

Safe Sport

CCSC has ZERO tolerance for any bullying, harassment, or assault by any parent, coach, or skater. Our policies are reviewed annually in parent and skater meetings at the beginning of each season.

Bullying is a form of personal harassment and includes physical or verbal abuse that occurs once or repeatedly and may involve an imbalance of power. Bullying is intended to hurt and humiliate the victim.

Helmets Policy

CanSkate Introduces children to the basic fundamentals of skating in a fun-filled atmosphere which includes games and group lessons taught by certified Skate Canada Professional Coaches with the help of trained Program Assistants. CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory. Under no circumstances will bicycle, ski or multi sport helmets be allowed to be worn during sessions. Thank you.

Rowan's Law

Rowan's Law requires that all coaches and team trainers to review the government-approved Concussion Awareness Resources every year. They must do this before they can coach.

The Copper Cliff Skating Club Parent Handbook outlines key program details, directory contacts, and club expectations, including a comprehensive Code of Conduct designed to foster a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all athletes, families, and coaches.

Privacy Policy

To protect the privacy of all participants, photos and videos taken during CanSkate sessions must focus strictly on your own child. Some families have requested that their children not be photographed or featured in shared content.

We love seeing you capture your skater's progress! To ensure we can maintain camera privileges around the rink, please respect the privacy of others. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a prompt update to our photo policy.

CCSC Constitution

ONCA

The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) provides Ontario not-for-profit corporations, including charitable corporations, with a modern legal framework to meet the needs of today's not-for-profit sector. It sets out how not-for-profit corporations are created, governed and dissolved. As of October 19, 2021, ONCA is in force.

Bylaws

Under the ONCA, bylaws must define the conditions of membership in our organization, and may include any rules for the activity of our nonprofit including on the following issues:

members’ roles and responsibilities
directors’ elections and terms of office
officers’ appointments and responsibilities
meeting procedures
finances
notice requirements for board and members’ meetings
adoption and amendment of bylaws

Membership

To become a member of Copper Cliff Skating Club, individuals must either attend the Annual General Meeting in person and cast their vote, or alternatively, complete and submit a proxy vote in accordance with the procedures outlined by CCSC. With the exception of any properly elected member of the Board of Directors, membership begins on the date of the AGM and is calculated automatically as the latter of twelve (12) months or at the following AGM.
